Bagaimana dengan fase regular bulan yang terlihat di Bumi? Bulan selalu mengorbiti Bumi. Satelit itu menghabiskan sebagian waktunya mengelilingi Bumi dan matahari. Saat berada jarak terjauh dari bumi, ini dinamakan bulan mati, dan ia hanya terlihat sisi gelapnya saja.

Pada tahun 1971, Apollo 14 mendarat di bulan dengan membawa tiga astronot, yaitu Stuart Roosa, Alan Shepard, dan Edgar Mitchell. Rossa pun mengambil sekelompok benih yang ada di bulan dan menanamnya di Bumi. Hasilnya, benih itu tumbuh di Bumi dan diberi nama Pohon Bulan.

4. Bumi adalah saudara dari bulan
Apakah bulan adalah satelit Bumi? Jawabannya, bisa jadi tidak. Pada tahun 1999, para peneliti menemukan asteroid yang memiliki lebar 5 kilometer. Asteroid itu terjebak dalam cengkeraman gravitasi Bumi. Ini malah lebih tepat disebut satelit Bumi.

Asteroid yang diberi nama Cruithne itu membutuhkan waktu 770 tahun untuk mengelilingi Bumi. Para peneliti mengatakan, bahwa Cruithne akan tetap mengelilingi Bumi setidaknya dalam waktu 5.000 tahun.

5. Banyak kawah di bulan
